"Uirapuru"has two basic areas: telerobotic fish control and 3D shared virtual world,and they are interconnected. When participants log on into the virtualworld the telerobotic fish "sings" in the gallery and online(i.e., it plays the real Uirapuru song). When participants control thetelerobotic fish locally or via the Web it moves accordingly in the gallery.Sonar units in the gallery track the movement of the real telerobotic fishand the telerobotic fish's avatar moves in the virtual space accordingto x,y,z data generated from the movement of the real telerobotic fishin the gallery. Video from the point of view of the telerobotic fish isstreamed live on the web. Songs from Uirapuru and other Amazonian birdsare also streamed live on the Web.
